Commit of the Week: Nkereuwem Okoro: Iowa St

Speculation in recent weeks was that Okoro was favoring the Iowa St Cyclones, on June 20th he made it public  The St. Raymonds (N.Y.) shooting guard will sign with Iowa St in November.

The 6 foot 4 shooting guard is the third of the last four Iowa St commitments to come from the east coast.  2011 signee Tavon Sledge is also from New York and 2012 commitment Georges Niang hails from Massachusetts.

Okoro is a 3 star according to Scout.com and many scouting reports praise him as a high motor, energy defender.

Fred Hoiberg is now in his second year as Iowa St’s coach and looks to be building a pipeline from Ames to the Atlantic Ocean.

Recruit of the Week:  Danrad “Chicken” Knowles

Knowles has become a talking point in recruiting circles in recent weeks and its not just because of his unusual nickname.

The 6 foot 9 Houston big has been turning heads this summer with the newly formed Texas Pros grassroots squad.  He capped off an impressive spring with rave reviews at last weekends NBA Top 100 Camp.

Knowles does not hold a offer yet but many Big 12 schools are showing interest in the Bahamas native.  Baylor, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas are the expected Big 12 schools that will be watching Knowles firsthand this July.    If his performance this spring is any indication he will be at the top of many Big 12 schools recruiting boards before July is over.
