National Hoops Report

With the July recruiting period right around the corner, college coaches are shifting their focus to recruiting. The July period marks the first time coaches can see high school players in person against equal level competition. What’s going on in the Big 12? The National Hoops Report will take a look at the recruiting landscape of all of the teams in the conference. Today, we look at Oklahoma State.

Expected Open Scholarships: 4-5

Keiton Page is the only senior on the Oklahoma State roster but have three open scholarships for the 2011-12 roster.  There is also a strong possibility that freshman forward LeBryan Nash is one and done.

Oklahoma State already has one of their scholarships tied up with the commitment of Kentucky shooting guard Adam Wing.  With only two true posts expected to be on the roster in 2012-13 (Michael Cobbins & Phil Jurick), big man is an area of need. Head Coach Travis Ford is also going after multiple talented guards.

Adam Wing, 6’3 SG, Rowan County, Kentucky – Before June, Wing was considered a football recruit and had committed to Marshall as a QB in the 2012 class.  Then early June Wing was offered by Travis Ford and switch commitments and sports.  He is considered a skilled three point shooter.

Phil Forte, 5’11 PG, Flower Mound Marcus
Javan Felix, 5’11 PG, New Orleans, LA
Nino Jackson, 6’0 PG, Ardmore, OK
Daryl Milburn, 6’4 SG, Baton Rouge, LA
Marcus Hunt, 6’5 SF, College Park, GA
Mike Hall, 6’10 C, College Park, GA
Willie Cauley, 6’11 C, Olathe Northwest, KS

Even though post players look to be the most needed position, most information points to OSU recruiting guards.  They have already locked up Wing, while Louisiana guards Javan Felix and Darryl Milburn claim OSU offers.  5 foot 11 Phil Forte also is sporting an OSU offer and is a very similar player to current OSU senior Keiton Page.

One of the top big man targets is Willie Cauley, OSU has consistently been recruiting the Kansas center for over a year now.  Mading Thok (6’11) out of Sioux City, IA and Jay Johnson (6’7) out of Versailles, KY are two under the radar bigs who have been listing OSU but don’t have offers.

In state Oklahoma State is looking at two guards, Nino Jackson and Edmond Memorial’s James Woodard (6’3).  Woodard’s stock has been on the rise and recently took an unofficial visit to Stillwater.   Jackson was once considered a Kansas lean but lately his recruitment has been hard to read and looks to be wide open.

Another OSU recruit with a mysterious recruitment is Wannah Bail (6’7) out of the Houston area.  Bail is a high level athlete that even made an unofficial to Oklahoma State last fall.
