Late decision for Goodwin?

ORLANDO – In the beginning of the summer Archie Goodwin was considered a top ten player and possibly the best shooting guard in the class of 2012, but during the NBA camp in June he broke his wrist, sidelining him for a few weeks. Now he’s back with a vengeance and on a mission to regain his place on the prep pecking order.

Leading the Arkansas Wings Elite club to an undefeated record in group play, Goodwin has been solid if unspectacular.

“I’m not 100% yet. I feel like I’m not even close. I’m just trying to come out here and help my team though,” Goodwin said.

Still there are a lot of programs that are after the talented Arkansas native.

“I’m considering Arkansas, Baylor, Kentucky , UConn, Memphis, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas. I plan on cutting it down after the Nike Global Challenge next week,” Goodwin said.

He also mentioned that he is in contact with Mike Anderson, John Calipari, and Jim Calhoun more than any of the other coaches. It wouldn’t come as a big surprise to see those three to make the cut after next month.

While he doesn’t have a set timetable yet, Goodwin says by the end of school ball so his recruitment will stretch into the spring in all likelihood.

When asked what he was looking for in a program he simply said: “A family orientated program with a winning tradition that will make me work for everything I get.”

If he ever gets back to the level he was at before the wrist injury, and there’s no reason to think he won’t, he should earn a starting spot at any school he decides in no time.
