Going Greene

One of the elite players in the class of 2013 is Brannen Greene.

He can shoot, get to the rim and distribute. At 6-foot-6, he has great size for the shooting guard position and his frame has filled out enough that he has a college ready body as well, making him even more attractive to coaches at the next level.

But what stands out about Greene the most is his attitude. Although he is considered one of the best players in his class the Georgia junior says he knows he can get much better and that there’s still work to do. Watch him interact with his coaches and teammates, it’s easy to see why so many coaches say he’s such a great kid.

While Greene maintains the fact that he is very much wide open in his recruitment he says he is considering “Louisville, Memphis, Florida, FSU, Alabama, Duke, Kentucky, Harvard, UConn, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Marquette and a bunch of others. There’s a lot of schools.”

Any of those schools would be lucky to have him, but Memphis appears to be working the hardest.

“I’ve really connected with the whole Memphis coaching staff. They all talk to me so much that it’s hard to pick out just one coach from them. Georgia Tech is doing a good job too,” Greene said.

Isaiah Lewis, a fellow top prospect in the class of 2013, has said before that he would like to go to midnight madness with Greene at Kansas.

“I mean, yeah it’s a definite possibility,” Greene said. “We’ve talked about going there or maybe Memphis. If we don’t end up in the same spot that’s ok.”

Greene and Lewis’s relationship could come into play when the Georgia forward is picking a school.

“We’re friends and I would love to have a point guard like him at my school,” Greene said.

So while it seems like far from a package deal, Lewis might be a difference maker in Greene’s recruitment, which will be interesting to watch.
