The chase keeps on Drummond

Pro or college? That's the question for Andre Drummond.

Andre Drummond is one of the top players in the class of 2012, so why aren’t more head coaches recruiting the big man?

Some people believe that it’s because he has already graduated high school, making him eligible for the NBA draft next season. While Drummond has an NBA body, people aren’t sold that he is mentally ready for the rigors of an 82 game season plus playoffs.

Still others believe that Drummond has already cut his list down to four schools: West Virginia, Georgetown, Kentucky and UConn.

Not surprisingly, all four schools have had coaches in Orlando watching the big man and Calhoun, Calipari, and Thompson have all personally watched the talented center at least once this past week and Huggins has watched him play during the live period as well.

But the head coaches aren’t trailing Drummond with every step he makes. Sometimes it was just the assistant coaches trailing.

So what school is in the lead for arguably the most highly touted high school big man since Greg Oden? Well, no one really knows for sure, as the coaches of CBC have done a good job of keeping him protected from the media, as they say they are trying to “protect his childhood” for another year. Which is funny because Drummond is far from a child.

When asked him if any school or coach stuck out in his head he replied with a simple “they’re all on the same level.”

Clearly, he is holding his cards close to his chest. The big man also went on to say he has no timetable for when he will make his decision, it could be tomorrow for all we know.

One thing is for sure though, Drummond is an extraordinary combination of size and skill, and his recruitment is just that, anything but ordinary.
