Number 84 – Keith Clanton, PF, Jr., Central Florida

When Keith Clanton was the anchor for Brandon Knight and Kenny Boynton on the AAU circuit, the accolades never really came Clanton’s way. They should have. He helped the team win the AAU Nationals and the Reebok Summer Championships in a matter of 10 days. That’s not an easy task. Clanton never sought the spotlight. He opted for playing, and playing well.

That theory has continued for him in college. Clanton is one of the top big men at the mid-major level and he’s a no-brainer all-conference player in Conference USA.

Clanton was the first major recruit to pick UCF. Then Kirk Speraw was gone. Donnie Jones came in and began to recruit a higher caliber of player. But Clanton set the table. He picked UCF over South Carolina and South Florida.

When UCF started the season 13-0 last year, Clanton was outstanding. When the wheels came off the bus, Clanton’s struggles shined through. A consistent year is needed. Everyone around Orlando knows that. If Clanton can find success on the blocks again, UCF could have the kind of year everyone thinks they can have.

2010-2011 STATS: 14.2 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.6 apg, 2.3 TO, 1 spg, 1.8 bpg, 52.9% FG, 37.5% 3 pt
