Detlef Schrempf is a pop culture Forrest Gump.

He was one of the best sixth men in all of the NBA during his days with the Indiana Pacers. He is credited as one of the many that has helped in the international development of New Zealander center Steven Adams.

He is the name of a great Band of Horses song.

He has acted on the great show Parks and Recreation on NBC.

He is also a news-breaking machine when it comes to hoops and television.

The NBA may not be on prime time this winter but NBA players will be. Hibbert is a bit of a surprise addition to the show only because I had no idea he was a thespian. The Parks & Rec show is based on a fictional Indiana city government group that focuses on small-town sports. Hibbert will join Schrempf on the show.

If you haven’t watched the show, you should. If you don’t like Schrempf, you aren’t American. Excuse me, you aren’t German-American. If you don’t know about Hibbert and his acting skills, like me, you should pull up a chair on Thursday nights.

I will.
