Number 79 – Glen Rice, SF, Jr., Georgia Tech

This is the year Rice has been waiting for. He’s the go-to guy for the Yellow Jackets and the spotlight has fallen on his role. There is no denying the skill that Rice has. He’s a good scorer and will have to be better now that Iman Shumpert left for the NBA and Brian Oliver transferred out of the program. He could be an 18 point per game (or more) scorer in the ACC this season.

His length is deceiving and problematic on the defensive end of the floor. He can guard four positions, if needed. Rice can pester guards with his wingspan and he can battle posts with his length. Offensively, he hasn’t tipped the domino yet with regards to his shooting DNA. Perhaps this is the year where he turns the corner.

He’s the pied piper for the Yellow Jackets. If he can be a mature leader in Atlanta, year one in the Brian Gregory regime won’t be nearly as bad as some think it will be.

2010-2011 STATS: 12.8 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2.5 apg, 2.3 TO, 1.5 spg, 41.8% FG, 30.2% 3 pt
