Number 63 – Patric Young, PF, Soph., Florida

If you were to walk into a gym in Gainesville and Udonis Haslem, Al Horford, Joakim Noah and Patric Young were in it, playing a game of pick-up and if someone asked you who the NBA player was, you might start with Young first.

Cut from granite, the sophomore is a physically imposing post player that is primed for a big season now that Vernon Macklin and Alex Tyus, the staples of the Florida frontline for the last two years, are gone.

Young was the third leading scorer (9.7) and second best rebounder on the U19 USA Basketball team this summer. Paul Hewitt raved about Young’s willingness to learn and work ethic.

Look below. Check out those stats. Alarming? Not really. Deceiving? Absolutely.

The key for Young is turning looks into production. He won’t be asked to score a lot with the four-headed guard line-up in Gainesville. The goal is becoming the leading rebounder in the SEC. That’s not out of the picture.

2010-2011 STATS: 3.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 55.6% FG
