Big Texan making the visit rounds

Connor Lammert is one of the more underrated recruits in the class of 2012 and while the public hasn’t heard much about him yet, the major programs have.

Baylor, Texas, Vanderbilt, Stanford and Oklahoma have taken notice of the talented Texan.

Just because we’ve heard little from Lammert doesn’t mean he’s still early in the recruiting process. Actually, he’s close to deciding.

“I’m down to Texas, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech right now,” Lammert said.

He is a stretch four, possibly a small forward if he continues to develop his handle this next year and at the next level. Still it’s hard to deny that Lammert has the makings of a high major player.

Texas would be happy to add him, and according to Lammert: “I played (Longhorn commit) Cameron (Ridley) early on in the summer and I think we can compliment each other’s games nicely, we can get shots off each other.”

He will take a visit to Austin September 10th.

Still the other in-state schools are coming after him. New coach Billy Kennedy would like to add Lammert to a talented first class that includes top 100 recruit J’Mychal Reese. Although Reese and Lammert haven’t talked about joining forces in College Station, the two could potentially keep things rolling even with the departure of former head coach Mark Turgeon. Connor will be on campus for the Aggies this weekend of September 3rd.

Possibly the most surprising school on his list is Texas Tech. Lammert is attracted to the school because “I have a brother there, it’s a beautiful campus. I have the support of the city and get to help rebuild the program.” All of which could be reasons that help pull Lammert towards the Red Raiders, a program that could seriously use his help. He will be on campus on September 24th weekend.

Which brings us to the one out of state school, Vanderbilt. Vandy will be losing major players in their frontcourt this season and Lammert could be a nice addition for a program that is looking to make the leap to elite status. Kevin Stallings and company are also going after top 100 center Blaise Mborgoba, and if he can land both Blaise and Lammert, it would go a long way in reloading. Connor Recently visited the Commodores this past weekend.

“I loved everything about it, the campus, the staff, the coaches, and the players, everything,” Lammert said.

He also went on to say Vanderbilt is his frontrunner, if only because that is the only school he’s visited.

Wherever Lammert ends up he will be a solid addition to the frontcourt. While his role could possibly vary depending on where he ends up, there’s no doubting that he will be a solid piece.
