Number 61 – Ray McCallum, PG, Soph., Detroit

Norris Cole is gone and Shelvin Mack moved on. The Horizon League is left looking for a star. Those that follow the league closely, or heck, college basketball closely know that McCallum is the star in waiting.

In fact, he may be one of the best point guards in all of college basketball. McCallum turned down high-majors offers to play for pops. All and all, the complete experience was a good one in year one.

On the flip side, McCallum was ineffective against quality teams last year. He struggled against Butler. Cleveland State had him pegged. The non-league schedule didn’t yield great results.

Now that it is year two of the “play for Dad” experience, the younger McCallum has a chance to be the Player of the Year in the Horizon. Could the Titans be dancing this year because of him? The time is now to do so.

2010-2011 STATS: 13.5 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 4.9 apg, 1.6 spg, 31.3% 3 pt
