Number 57 – Robert Sacre, C, Sr., Gonzaga

Giant senior centers are a dying breed in collegiate hoops. The draw of professional hoops pulls away the paint fillers simply because of the lack of true centers at that level. Sacre is a dinosaur. He’s a fifth-year seven-footer.

Gonzaga is on the cusp of top 25 placement by the rankers and without an experienced point guard in the lineup, guys like Sacre and Elias Harris will have to work for whatever they get this season. Then again, teams with experienced size always seem to find a way to play deep into a schedule.

Sacre was good in non-league games last season. He’ll have to remain consistent in West Coast Conference play (unlike last year) if the Zags want to stay in the top 25 rankings and dance yet again.

A lot of pro eyes are watching him this year, too. That’s something to play for, right?

2010-2011 STATS: 13 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1 apg, 2 TO, 0.9 spg, 1 bpg, 49.7% FG, 30.4% 3 pt
