Eugene, Oregon is a hopping spot this weekend as ESPN’s College Game Day is in town for the Ducks football game against Arizona State. Across the river at Matthew Knight Arena, the fans packed into one of the nicest arena’s in America to see a new breed of Ducks start the season off.

My man Matt Prehm of DuckTerritory.com was there and filmed the dunk contest. Here it is:

Oregon is one of the more intriguing teams to follow this season. Here’s why: Dana Altman can coach, the team added two big transfers in Olu Ashaolu (Louisiana Tech) and Tony Woods (Wake Forest) and a big-time freshman in Jabari Brown. The Ducks return E.J. Singler and an array of solid role players.

Brown led the team in scoring during a trip to Italy and Ashaolu will replace Joevan Catron, the team’s leading scorer and rebounder from last year. The Ducks needed size inside and get it with Woods, an athletic and long 7-footer.

Clearly the fans are pumped. Matthew Knight Arena was pretty loud last night. Of course, when you get free Jordans from Nike there is plenty to get excited about.
