Number 52 – Durand Scott, SG, Jr., Miami

The Hurricanes are a popular sleeper pick coming out of the ACC in large part because the bulk of those that matter are back. Scott is one of them. The New York tough guyis the glue for a team that should be better than a sleeper this season.

Scott is inconsistent as a scorer and he won’t be asked to develop into a major point producer this season either. Scott should float right around the 14 point per game area and that’s perfectly okay given the personnel that the Hurricanes have to work with.

If anything, Scott could be the best on-the-ball defender in the ACC and maybe even on the eastern seaboard. His defensive presence is why he’s ranked so high on this top 100 list. He’s tremendous.

Defenses win championships, right? Maybe not in the top-heavy ACC this year. Defense, at this with Scott, could be the anchor to a win against one of the powers – Duke or North Carolina.

2010-2011 STATS: 13.6 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.2 spg, 2.8 TO, 44.5% FG, 39.1% 3PT
