#Smart move Michigan

Readers of this blog know of my love, okay obsession, with social media. I love it even more when Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc. meets basketball.

That said, the University of Michigan is my favorite program of the day.

The athletic department is looking for its digital voice of the program in a very cool program through Twitter. One social media savant has a chance to earn a spot with the hoops program via social media.

“This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will allow YOU to take control of all Twitter-related activity during the 2011-12 Men’s Basketball season. This includes an all-access pass to practice and games, allowing this position the opportunity to provide Michigan basketball fans pregame, in-game and postgame tweets.”

Smart. Very smart.

St. John’s made headlines when the Big East program became the first school to have a Twitter blogger during the 2009-2010 season when they gave Peter Roert Casey a spot on media row to Tweet.

Michigan is going a similar route.

I’d guess the winner of this contest is a savvy student. Michigan has smart new media students all over Ann Arbor. What a cool opportunity.
