Number 40 – Kenny Boynton, SG, Jr., Florida

People can knock Boynton for his shot selection. I have too. Hard not to sometimes. But I’ll say this again: Boynton has one of the best killer instincts of any player I’ve ever covered.

I’m not kidding.

Boynton has made big shots, tough shots, unthinkable shots, throughout his young career. The problem is, according to most, is when he misses those big shots.

We’ve discussed Florida’s backcourt time and time again here at the NHR. It is outstanding. There is no denying that. With Brad Beal and Mike Rosario in tow now, there are more shots to hand out. A series of bad shots will put a very talented player on the bench with Billy Donovan.

Boynton was at his best when he was playing alongside Brandon Knight on the grassroots tour. There was no better tandem than that bunch. Coming into the season, there isn’t a better backcourt than what the Gators have.

Could this mean a return to a more disciplined Boynton? Gator fans hope so. Donovan needs it to be. If so, watch out. Florida is scary.

2010-2011 STATS: 14.2 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 2.6 apg, 38.5% FG, 33.1% 3PT
