Number 39 – Kendall Marshall, PG, Soph., North Carolina

I’m going to guess there won’t be a happier point guard in America this year than that of Marshall. Harrison Barnes to the left. John Henson to the right. Tyler Zeller in the middle. The game is played at 100 miles an hour. The spotlight will always shine on Chapel Hill.

Seriously, find me a point guard happier than him this year.

But here is the funny thing, Marshall isn’t a great scorer or a great defender. In fact, he’s not really the best athlete either. What he is, though, is a tremendous facilitator of talent. He always has been. Marshall has had great coaching his entire playing career and has always played with great players. He knows how to glue all of the pieces together. For North Carolina, and especially this year, Marshall is the perfect guy to serve the point guard role for Roy Williams.

North Carolina has a huge target on them this year and if Marshall can keep the Tar Heels on point, on task and on the run, there is no reason to think UNC will be cutting down the nets in April.

2010-2011 STATS: 6.2 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 6.2 apg, 2.5 TO, 37.7% 3PT
