Number 29 – John Shurna, PF, Sr., Northwestern

The Most Interesting Man in the World, he is not. In fact, John Shurna looks like a kid you’d see on Sunday helping his grandmother out of the family van in a church parking lot. He looks like the nicest of guys. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Perhaps that is why Shurna is also one of the most under-discussed players in college basketball. He doesn’t fit the bill of college basketball star. Shurna does a little bit of everything well. He’s one of the best face up four men in the game and one of the smartest players at his position.

He’s started every game of his college career. Shurna has played a part in 57 wins and three straight trips to the post-season over the last three years. Remember, we are talking about Northwestern here. They matter now. Well, more than they ever have.

Shurna is one of the reasons why. Another post-season trip and a 20-win season is the goal. With Shurna on board, doing that is certainly achievable.

2010-2011 STATS: 16.6 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.8 TO, 1.1 spg, 1 bpg, 48.1% FG, 43.4% 3PT
