Welcome to the 10 o’clock hour (on the East Coast, of course). This is an old blog trick. Post 10 things at 10 o’clock, call it a post and walk away.

Mocking the lottery

18 May

By Justin Young
National Hoops Report

The NBA Draft Lottery was on Tuesday night and the world gathered around to find out the outcome of bouncing ping pong balls.

Amazing does happen in the NBA, doesn’t it?

The NBA’s most unlucky and downtrodden team won the lottery and owner Dan Gilbert’s son, Nick, stole the show with his glasses, raspy 14-year-old voice and witty banter (pictured above)

How will the lottery play out? Here’s my two cents. Continue reading

Clipboard Conversations: Xavier Silas, Northern Illinois

12 May

Norther Illinois wing Xavier Silas was one of the top scorers in the nation. Is that enough to get him drafted in June?

By Justin Young
National Hoops Report

Xavier Silas was one of the leading scorers in the country this season for Northern Illinois, posting 22.3 points a game. He was the eighth leading scorer in the nation.

Silas has worked out for the New York Knicks and participated in the New Jersey Nets workout. He will work out for the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday. New Jersey and New York will probably bring him back for another work.

Silas is currently in Las Vegas working out with guru Joe Abunassar with Impact Basketball. Silas has signed an agent, Lance Young, with Octagon. Young represents Steph Curry, Wes Matthews, Rudy Gay, David West and others.

The National Hoops Report caught up with Silas and talked about his future, his career and much more. Continue reading

Meet Enes Kanter

6 May

You know the name. You know he was supposed to be on Kentucky’s roster. You know he’s supposed to be good. You know he’s going to be a top level draft pick. But have you ever really seen him play before? Not many can say they have. And if you have seen him play, it wasn’t a lot. Some NBA draft analysts think Kanter could have been the No. 1 pick overall had he played at Kentucky this year. You decide. Here’s video of the 6-foot-10 stud.

Meet Jan Vesely

National Hoops Report

If you missed the earlier post about Donatas Motiejunas, don’t sweat it (but you should probably check it out because it is awesome. Two things you have to see: winter wolf, European rap video). Here’s today’s awesome European highlight clip. For starters, the clip starts off as equally entertaining as the Motiejunas clip with the voice over of a man who sounds similar to the amazing DirectTV mini giraffe guy (“I am epic win“). After the three seconds of awesome, projected Jan Vesely is in the middle of a basketball scrum. Then the highlights. Continue reading

Meet Donatas Motiejunas

29 Apr

For starters, any highlight video that starts with a wolf walking through the snow covered forest and then transition into a hard-thumping European rap is alright with me. Meet Donatas Motiejunas. The 19-year-old Lithuanian will likely be a top 10 pick in the upcoming June draft. DraftExpress has a great in-depth profile of the tall lefty. He’s a skilled big that can run the floor, shoot the three, handle the ball and score. Aran Smith of NBADraft.net compares him to Andrea Bargnani.
