Making weight

8 Sep

Do not deny Santa Clara freshman Robert Garrett a chance to zip line in Canada.

He went into wrestler mode to make the cut and tried to drop weight at the snap of a finger. As funny as the story is, the big man earned the respect of his team to be a part of the team building exercise.

Ah, college.

And ah, 6-foot-8 dudes that can squeeze into a safety harness and hang in the air by a tiny line.

Submit your questions to the National Hoops Report mailbag

11 May

One of the great features on the old National Hoops Report blog was the mailbag. I think it is time to dust off the bag and bring it back.

Send your questions to the National Hoops Report for the weekly mailbag. I’ll tackle anything you send in regarding college hoops, the NBA Draft, recruiting, rankings, books, food, music, etc.

You can submit your questions via email at, via Twitter @JustinDYoung or via Facebook on my profile that you can find here.

The goal is to run the Mailbag every Thursday, starting May 19.

Be smart. Be funny. Be thought provoking.

Clipboard conversations: Ron Hunter, new Georgia State head coach

11 May

Ron Hunter is the new head man at Georgia State.

Georgia State hired IUPUI coach Ron Hunter to take over the program from Rob Barnes. Hunter was a bit of a surprise hire for the Panthers. He is a long time coach in the Midwest and doesn’t have any ties to the South. The National Hoops Report caught up with him for this week’s edition of Clipboard Conversations.
